In century V AC, Ireland of the Celtas, the 31 of October the festival of Samhain was celebrated that commemorated the end of the summer and the beginning of a new year. When falling the night, the celebration of deads was celebrated, so the spirits left and made the rounds by all Earth. In order to calm them, enormous bonfires were made and the druid ones made spells. One said that during that night the spells and the magic were more powerful than in any other day. When the Romans conquered to celtas, part of this celebration to deads happened to Christian Rome.
In century IV DC in Rome, the Christianity tried to end all the pagan things and the old religions. But celtas could not leave their customs absolutely, so the Christian church changed the name to them of Samhain to All Hallow Eve and the reason of this celebration became the Christian adoration of all the religious martyrs. The Christian church of century VII celebrated the day of All the Saints in May, but people continued waiting for the arrival of ghosts the 31 of October, so the celebration to the saints was changed to the 1 of November.
>>ORIGIN OF WORD HALLOWEEN<<
The Halloween word has her origins in the Catholic Church. It is a contraction of the oration in English All Hallows Eve that means "el día de todos los santos" and is a catholic religious celebration that is celebrated 1 or 2 of November.
